Message I've never used race gas. I'd like to have as much power on pump gas as possible. I've decided that having loads of untapped potential that I can only use on race gas isn't very useful for me.

I'm sure everyone has had that fantasy of having this badass car with loads of power that is available one you get to the track and put race fuel in the tank, but there's a big, realistic problem with this.

If you wanted to have a lot more potential left over that you could use with race gas, you're going to need to get bigger, laggier turbos. And that lag will be present even when you're not running a lot of boost, when you're just driving the car on the street trying to get somewhere. It's a really bad tradeoff in my opinion. I wouldn't be willing to give up pump gas drivability (Which I use 99% of the time) just to gain some potential that I can use 1% of the time.

That's why turbos like the Disco Potato aren't very appealing to me. You'll be able to make a little more power on pump gas with these than you could with Sport 500's, but most of that extra potential is only available when you're running race fuel with the boost cranked up. There's no sense in having huge turbos that can push 30 psi when you need race fuel to run anything over 19 psi (let's say). I'd rather have smaller turbos that can run 18 psi on pump gas and max out at 22 psi. (Just an example, not exact numbers)
